The 3 Things You Should Know About Micro-needling

Micro-needling, also known as  collagen induction therapy, is rapidly becoming one of the most popular skin rejuvenating treatments in 2015. Its benefits include:

  • improving the appearance of fine lines
  • improving the appearance of acne scars
  • improving the skin’s overall appearance

How Does Micro-needling Work

It’s a skin care modality which uses tiny needles to create micro-peforations, which stimulates collagen and elastin production as the skin repairs itself. As part of the protocol at our  med spa during the treatment  we apply vitamin E and hyaluronic acid to help heal the inflammation that is created from the needling, and also provide hydration.

Post-treatment Protocol

Post-care topicals such as peptides are imperative for home care as they aid in speeding up the repair and recovery time, as well as preventing prolonged redness.

The Do’s and Dont’s  Pre and Post Treatment

  • Forgo waxing or resurfacing treatments until the skin has fully healed from the micro-needling procedure
  • Depending on your skin type you may prep your skin with the use of gentle enzymes or AHAs (with the guidance of your skin care specialist’s advice) depending on the kind of results/correction desired
